A two vehicle accident was reported Thursday, January 21, at 5:59 p.m. to Miller/Baker E911.
Law enforcement officers, EMS and fire and rescue units were dispatched to the intersection of Whites Bridge Road and SR 310 south.
The collision occurred when Daniel Dewert Freeman, 22, of 146 George Cloud Lane, Brinson, was travelling west on Whites Bridge Road in his 2002 Ford F350 truck. Howard C. Bradshaw, 42, of 101 Bird Street, Colquitt, was travelling south on SR 310 in his 1994 Chevrolet K1500 pickup truck.
According to the incident report, Freeman ran through a stop sign and was struck in the right passenger side door by Bradshaw’s truck, broadside with the front of his truck.
A 30-foot skid mark was left by Bradshaw’s truck.
After the impact, Freeman’s truck went counter clockwise travelling south approximately 36 feet, striking a stop sign.
Freeman’s truck left the south shoulder roadway of Whites Bridge Road and came to an uncontrolled final rest, facing east approximately 10 feet off the roadway.
Bradshaw’s truck traveled south approximately 40 feet, leaving the west shoulder roadway of GA 310, and overturned. The truck came to an uncontrolled final rest approximately 12 feet off the roadway on its left side facing north. After both vehicles came to a final rest, Freeman’s truck burst into flames and completely burned.
Freeman told the investigator that he was travelling approximately 65 MPH and did not see the stop sign.
The incident report indicated that witnesses stated that Freeman was travelling at speeds greater than the posted speed limit and made no attempt to stop.
Freeman and his passenger, Charlie Brown,58, of Bainbridge were taken to the Miller County Hospital for treatment.
Trooper D.M. Fretwell of GSP Post 14 Colquitt was the investigating officer.
The contributing cause of the accident was cited to Freeman for disregard of a stop sign, and too fast for conditions.
No one was using safety equipment. Two of the three received visible injuries. One vehicle was extensively damaged, and the other burned.
