Warriors win three in a row

The SGA Warriors may have started off a little sluggish this year, but since the Christmas break the Warriors have won five out of their last six games, including three straight this past week. The Warriors finally got in the win column the Thursday before the holiday break with a 45-26 win over Grace Christian Academy. The Warriors were led by Danny Doster and Andrew Stone with 12 and 11 points each. They continued their winning ways as they traveled to Vidalia to take part in the RTCA Coaches vs. Cancer classic with a 37-31 victory over David Emanuel Academy. They were led by Danny Doster’s double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors then ran into GISA power-house Bethesda Day School out of Savannah. They fell 70-33 to Bethesda with Andrew Stone pacing the Warriors with 11 points. The Warriors then returned to action Monday against Byne Memorial Baptist. SGA came out on top 56-41 with three Warriors in double digit scoring. Parker Adams, Danny Doster and Andrew Stone had 14, 12 and 12 points respectively. Point guard Parker Adams had his first career double-double adding 10 rebounds to his scoring. The Warriors then traveled to Valdosta Tuesday night to open up their region play versus the Valwood Valiant’s. They came out on top in this match-up, 44-37, led by Parker Adams and Danny Doster, both having 14 points apiece. Doster had his sixth double-double of the year, adding 13 rebounds to his total. The Warriors then continued region play this past Friday versus the Windsor Knights in Damascus. SGA was victorious, 46- 40, paced by Parker Adams’ 15 points followed by Billy Grimsley’s 10 points. The Warriors improved to 5-6 on the year. “We are really starting to play unselfish basketball and making the extra pass to get a better shot. It’s great to see the guys buy into a concept of team basketball. I couldn’t be any prouder of them,” said Coach David Byrne. The Warriors will be back in action Friday and Saturday as they travel to Tifton and Valdosta to take on region foe, Tiftarea Academy, and then Georgia Christian.
