‘A Look at Life’

Inspiration

(Pastor James Scarborough, Donalsonville Assembly of God)

It amazes me when I consider modern technology and what it enables us to do and see. While I know little about the vast advancements that have been achieved, I have heard about and seen enough in the field of medical technological developments in my lifetime to know that it is absolutely mind boggling.

I received a personal example last week of how advanced medical science is in allowing us to peek into a world that not so many years ago was totally off limits for most of us.

(Just in case I have not effectively gotten the word out, Gale and I will be having another baby this summer. Now do not get any rumors started until you read the rest of our story. That other baby is another grandchild! What a remarkable time in our lives! We get the joy of spoiling another little one without having to pay the bills; then we can send it home and enjoy a nice quiet night of rest.

Jessica, our youngest daughter, went in last week for her first prenatal examination in expectation of her second child. Even though she is less than two months out from conception, the doctor was able to get a picture of that tiny life in its early development. Amazing!

After benefiting from that bit of medical technology, she used another modern tool-- the internet--to send a copy of the ultrasound image to my computer at home, enabling me to see for myself what that little one looks like. Granted, he or she looks a lot like a butterbean right now, and Jessica said it is probably only about the size of a fingernail, yet she was able to hear the tiny heart beating away as it awaits its arrival into the world and the first trip to Nana and Papa’s house.
