Vehicle Accident

On December 30, James Covington Bowles was traveling south on Highway 91 South. A deer entered into the path of Bowles’ vehicle and the collision could not be avoided. The deer was struck on the front passengers side corner, then spun off and struck the fender and door of the passenger’s side.

Criminal Trespass

On January 1, Fred Bryd stated that Artavia Leon Wright broke the bedroom window on his trailer that his daughter lives in. Wright admitted to breaking the window and stated that he had just knocked on the window and it broke. Due to the damage done to the window, Wright’s statement was found to be untrue.

Harassing Phone Calls

On January 2, Shirley Sheffield stated that she has been getting text messages from an unknown person over a short period of time. The case was turned over to the Investigations Division, so they can trace the messages back to the perpetrator.

Theft by Taking

On December 29, Alisha Warren Colwell advised that her 2000 Ford Explorer was taken from her residence without her permission. The keys had been left in the vehicle, and it was last seen on December 19, 2009, and found missing on December 20, 2009. Colwell advised that the only other adult at her residence was Christen Leigh Turpin, and she, along with the vehicle, was gone from the residence.

Forgery 1st Degree

On December 29, Tammy Dykes Lambert came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a forgery. Lambert stated that her husband, Chris Lambert, had his sister or mother forge her signature to an income tax return check in the amount of $2500.00 that had been jointly filed under both their names. The forgery took place in South Carolina while Lambert was on vacation.
