Mr. Edwin V. Atkinson, Jr., age 52, of Colquitt died Friday, December 25, 2009, at Palmyra Medical Center in Albany.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Barwick and Dr. Carl Marshall officiating.

Interment followed in the Colquitt City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris McAdoo, Gaylon Harrell, Matt Harrell, Ronnie Franklin, Greg Calhoun, Marty Kelley, Russell Womble, Andre’ Franklin, and Courtney Moore.

Mr. Atkinson was the owner/operator of Atkinson Construction Company and Atkinson Farms. He was a member of Bellview Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Penny Atkinson, Colquitt; three sons, Edwin V. Atkinson, III, Stephen H. Atkinson, Alex Slade Atkinson, all of Colquitt; one brother, H. D. Bailey, Reynoldsville; three grandchildren, Reyse Atkinson, Tristan Blair, and Tanna Blair, Colquitt; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
