Coach Tim Martin and Bonne Martin with their son, Will, as he accepts the ball he reached his 1000th point with. It is official. Will Martin, a senior at Miller County High School, scored his 1000th point in his high school career on December 15 at Miller County’s gymnasium.

Will was a small lad when his father was hired as the head basketball coach for the Pirates. You would see Will following his Dad around Miller County High with a basketball in his hands. The bond between Will and his father is larger than life. If you saw Tim, then you saw Will; if you saw Will, then you saw Tim. They have been joined together like Siamese twins at the hips.

Will Martin is not your average kid; he ranks first academically in his class at Miller County High with a 4.0 grade point average and has been receiving scholarship offers from Berry College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Will has grown into a fine, mature, young man and no matter where he goes he has that same bright smile on his face.

Coach Tim has always seen the potential in Will, and he would probably admit that he has pushed Will more and harder than other players. “I see Will as a basketball player on the court playing his heart out, but I also see my son out there playing as well. I am very proud of Will and his accomplishments, and I look forward to seeing him reach many more goals that he has set before himself,” stated Coach Tim.

As of December 15, Will had hit his 1008 points total and after the holidays Will will probably add more points before the season comes to an end.

NOTE: Will Martin is one of the nicest young men you could ever be around. I have had the pleasure of watching Will play all his high school years, and it has been an exciting ride. When he was little, I would ask Tim if he could ride with me to the store to get a cold soda, and Will would hop right on in. Will is on the down hill slope of graduation, but, Will Martin, you are a unique young man with so much going for you. Set your goals, whether it is to further your basketball career or go in a different direction. Always remember Will Martin—I have enjoyed watching and announcing you over the years. May God bless you and keep you safe in his loving arms.
