Mr. James R. Benton, age 65, a native of Donalsonville and a resident of Vonore, TN, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Graveside services were held Sunday, December 6, in Big Toqua Cemetery with Jerry Walker officiating with military honors provided by VFW Post #5156 and DAV #93.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Cansler Benton, Vonore, TN; two sons, James T. (Katie) Benton, Smyrna, DE, Brett Brewer, Vonore, TN; daughter, Crystal (Charles) Crozier, Fort Gaines; grandchildren, Simon and Tucker Benton, Peggy Sue Crozier; sisters, Betty Whittaker, Lucille Kirkland, Patsy Jones, all of Donalsonville, Hazel Jones, Doerun, Sarah Shirley, Pensacola; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Ashley Benton and his parents, Jessie and Inez Benton.

Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madison, TN, was in charge of arrangements.
