Santa, I want a Snickers

by Terry Toole

Santa listens to the young and old as he gets ready for his ride on December 25. Santa listens to the young and old as he gets ready for his ride on December 25. It was a surprise visit Thursday, to the Liberal, when who should appear, but old Santa, himself. He had a bag of goodies for all the good boys and girls.

From the back of the office came Uva Sanders Mason, on her trusty threewheeler saying, “I’ve been a good girl, Santa. I’ve helped stuff all the inserts into the largest edition of the year last week with hundreds of letters to Santa and photos of the children.”

Uva, 95, is the chief inserter for the Miller County Liberal. Each week she puts the inserts together, getting them ready to insert into the weekly edition. She does any and all odd jobs around the office that can be done sitting down. She also keeps several of the employees, including the editor, busy bringing her the inserts and moving them to the back.

As she sat on Santa’s lap, she told Santa that she will work for Snickers and that she will be having a birthd ay just three days after Christmas.
