Marijuana seized from traffic stop

Marijuana and pipe found in vehicle Marijuana and pipe found in vehicle On December 8, 2009, Chief Investigator Ben Nix and Chief Deputy Shane Rathel were investigating a theft involving a four wheeler that has been reported stolen in Miller County.

While on patrol, looking for this ATV, they spotted a pick-up traveling south on Milford Street with a four wheeler in the back of the truck.

The four wheeler fit the description of the one that had been reported stolen. The deputies tried to run the tag on the truck to see who it came back to, but the tag was not visible to the officers.

The officers stopped the truck and asked the driver for his license. The license check came back as the subject being Bradly Chambless.

Investigator Nix advised Mr. Chambless of the tag and that he had stopped him to see if the four wheeler was the one that had been stolen earlier.

While talking to Chambless, Investigator Nix could smell an odor of marijuana coming from inside the truck. Mr. Chambless was asked to step out of the truck. Investigator Nix asked him if there were any drugs in the truck. Mr. Chambless told the investigator where a joint could be found in the vehicle. Investigator Nix recovered the marijuana from the ashtray.

The suspect was patted down by Chief Deputy Rathel. Found on his person were a bag of marijuana and a pipe.

Mr. Chambless was arrested and charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
