Three people dead in double murder and suicide

Three persons are dead after a double murder and suicide on Saturday night in Bainbridge.

James “Bubba” Reynolds III, 42, shot and killed his live-in girlfriend, Tonya Swords, 31, and their seven year-old son, Kahm, before killing himself.

Sheriff’s Major Wendell Cofer stated that after not hearing from Reynolds for a period of time, a relative went to his home at 202 County Line Road at about 8 p.m. Saturday evening.

With no answer, she entered the residence and discovered the three victims. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Major Cofer stated their investigation indicates that they had been dead only a short period of time before being discovered.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call and secured the home. Sheriff’s CSI Gale Bowyer processed the scene.

Tonya Swords had left Bubba Reynolds earlier in the week and was staying in Thomasville. On Saturday, Reynolds picked up Tonya and their sevenyear old son and brought them to his residence, presumably to talk and visit. Tonya’s own two daughters did not come with them.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s investigation continues.
