VIRGINIA E. "BETTY" COOK PRICE

Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth "Betty" Cook Price, age 83, of Panama City Beach, FL, died Monday, November 2, 2009.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at the Heritage Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Warten officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Brian King, Christopher King, Bubba Cook, Tim Mitchell, Mark Price and Bob Price. Honorary pallbearers were members of The Red Hat Society.

Betty was born October 18, 1926, and grew up in Panama City, FL, attending Bay High School. In 1943, she and Bob married and chose to serve their country as a military family.

Returning to Panama City in 1998 to their family and old friends, Betty was happy to become a laughing member of Davelyn's Darlin's Red Hat Society, a chaplain of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of the Does, Drove No. 180, a member of the Classic Ladies of the Shaddai Temple, a member of the Daughters of the Nile Foundation for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals and a long-standing member of First United Methodist Church and Progressive Women's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include three children, Sharon Arnold (David), Bonneau, S.C., Robert H. Price (Susan), Tampa, FL, and Mark L. Price (Gina), Panama City; sister, Floyanne McKenzie (Bob); and her dearest friend in life and death, Catherine Emanuel, both of Panama City; grandchildren, Heather King (Brian), Shawn Kennedy, Ashley Strickland (Joshua), Olivia Williams, Jasmine Simon; six great-grand, Christopher, Natalie and Shaylynn King, Dylan Kennedy, Zachary Williams and Kyle Strickland.

Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
