Colquitt family wins $2.5 million dollars

by MCL staff writer

In a telephone interview Monday evening, with a possible $2.5 million dollar winner, it was confirmed that a Colquitt man had a $20 scratch-off purchased from a gasoline station in Bainbridge.

The ticket was purchased Tuesday, October 27, at a convenience store on U.S. Highway 27.

Talking with the ticket holders, Marcus and Melissa Newberry of Colquitt, Mr. Newberry stated that he had to get his ducks in order before cashing in the lotto scratch-off ticket in Tifton, probably on November 3.

Newberry stated that the scratch-off ticket is a one lump sum payoff, and according to advisors that he has contacted, of the $2.5 million, the ticket holders will receive $1,725,000.00 after federal income tax comes out of it.

Congratulations to the winners.
