Happy Halloween
Emma Grace thinks she is going to like this Halloween. Halloween is going to be a little early this year. The time has been changed from Tuesday to Thursday for celebration of Halloween in Colquitt.
Due to possible rain, the Trick-or-Treat around town has been changed to Thursday, October 29, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. around town and at the participating businesses.
After the Trick-or-Treating around town, the Miller County Elementary School PTO has gone all out to make this a fall festival that can be enjoyed by everyone, but especially the young at heart. It will take place at Spring Creek Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be something for all ages to enjoy. Also a costume contest will be held at 6:00 p.m.
Time "falls back"
Sunday
This is also the time of year when Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning at 2:00 a.m., November 1. It has been suggested that your clocks be set back Saturday night before you go to bed. Like many things our government has done, only a politician could think by cutting an hour here, we gain an hour there. Some folks like it. Some folks hate it. Some folks just go with the flow.
As one elderly fellow said, "If you don't like it, you are not required by law to lose an hour. They do the same with taxes. Take a lot and give a little. They can mess up anything."
Arizona, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa do not observe Daylight Savings time.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
