2009 pre-season scrimmage soon
Five of the 40 plus Pirates are hot and getting ready for a good season. There is a lot of excitement floating in the air about our new school beginning and a lot of excitement about the Mighty Pirates of MCHS.
Yes, it's that time of the year when true Pirate fans live and breathe Pirate Football. So, Fans gets your pirate cushions out, umbrellas, whatever you might take with you to a football game, cause there will be excitement watching the Miller County Pirate Football team this season under the coaching ability of Head Coach Frank Killingsworth, and his coaching staff: Coach Jason Houston, Coach Dick Griffin, Coach Scott Warren, Coach Nate George, and Coach Woodie Kirkland.
Let's not forget our cheerleaders, Coach Susan Wade, MCHS Marching Pirate Pride Band under the leadership of Band Director,Mr. Richard Horne.
The Miller County Football Team has been practicing diligently for this season's fall schedule.
In a recent interview, Head Coach Frank Killingsworth stated, "We have approximately forty players which will be traveling to Tifton, to face Brantley County in a pre-season scrimmage on August 20th with game time beginning at 7:30 p.m. and our first regular season game will be August 28th here at the Pirate Stadium against the Albany High Indians with game time beginning at 8:00 p.m."
Several team players attended camps over the summer: Caleb Cunningham, Josh Rahymes, T.T. Barber, Zenario Shuler, Cosby Salter, and Shawndre Sheffield participated in the Southwestern Wing T Camp in Carrollton, and then Salter and Sheffield attended camp at UGA.
"I feel our season will be great with the team coming together in unity, our veterans showing leadership and motivation," stated MCHS Quarterback -Caleb Cunningham.
Coach Scott Warren comment was, "We have a lot of hard work to do."
Also, Coach Kill stated, "We got along way to go BUT we will be there when the time comes. The Pirates are like Legos—they are interchangeable."
So let's get CRUNK for our Mighty Pirates!
