LARRY MAYNARD KIRKSEY

Mr. Larry Maynard Kirksey, age 57, of Colquitt passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at Miller County Hospital.

Mr. Kirksey was born in Colquitt on December 18, 1951, to Charlie and Bonnie West Kirksey. He graduated from Seminole County High School in 1970. Mr. Kirksey served his country in the United States Army before working with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Southern Concrete. While in the Army, Mr. Kirksey received the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal, and two Army Achievement Medals. He was also stationed at Arlington National Cemetery, where he was an accomplished member of the Honor Guard Unit.

Funeral services for Mr. Kirksey were held on Wednesday, July 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville. Interment followed in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Rev. Milton Pate officiating.

Pallbearers were Ricky King, Kenneth Arnold, Carey Moye, Darryl Griffin, Kevin Long, and Carey Carter.

Survivors include his parents, Charlie and Bonnie Kirksey, Donalsonville; son, Brian Kirksey, Knoxville, TN; daughter, Christy (Lewis) Phillips, Knoxville, TN; granddaughter, Brianna Kirksey, Donalsonville; brother, Randy (Debra) Kirksey, Cairo; two nephews, Chuck Kirksey, Statesboro, and Blair Kirksey, Cairo; and several aunts and uncles.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
