Fireworks in the Park

by MCL staff writer

One of last year's fireworks bursts One of last year's fireworks bursts If you want to have a good time, it is just two days away. The biggest fireworks display that will be in this area will take place Friday, July 3. It's time for Colquitt's Fabulous Fourth Celebration on July 3.

Make your plans to come to Spring Creek Recreation Park for a great evening of fun for everyone.

The festivities will start at 6:30 p.m. and last until the crowd wants to go home that night.

If you want to eat, there will be plenty of barbecue, hamburgers and hotdogs and all the trimmings from Pickle Farms for you to enjoy.

There will also be parking for the handicapped. Please enter from US Highway 27 beside the agriculture building.

Everyone will enjoy the program which will start with a patriotic event led by members of the local American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. These are the men and women who served our country to keep it free. They deserve our support and attendance to this event.

There will be lots of music, fun, laughter and entertainment by the talented Mayhaw Singers. If you haven't heard these singers, you are in for a spectacular show. You will feel like you are watching the real "Hee- Haw" show.

As dark comes, get ready for one grand fireworks display. You will be able to see this professional display of fireworks for several miles, but there is nothing like being in the park and watching it up close.

The Colquitt/Miller County Chamber of Commerce is the sponsoring agency for this event, but don't forget to thank the many sponsors for helping furnish the funds to make this annual event possible for our citizens and neighbors from all around.

As usual, the Colquitt/ Miller County Volunteer Fire Department will be on hand to assist with the fireworks show. Don't forget to thank this group of men when you see one of them.

Everything will be free to the public except the food and drinks that can be purchased in the park.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets since the seating in the park is limited. Come early and stay late. Enjoy an early celebration of our nation's birthday on Thursday evening, July 3.
