The new fiscal year for the state of Georgia begins July 1, and it's $2.6 billion lighter than the budget enacted at the start of the last fiscal year.

The state's citizens will notice the reduction. In schools, class sizes will be allowed to go up by two students per class. Parks fees will increase 67% to $5 per day. Some state-run museums will close for one or two days per week. Roadside litter pickup will be reduced. Fewer troopers will be on the road, and they'll be in older cars. And there are lots more changes to come.
