Bainbridge - Decatur County Sheriff's deputies arrested a juvenile for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute following a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., Sheriff's Deputy Vincent Edmonds stopped a car on Zorn Road that had an expired tag.
Deputy Edmonds noted in the incident report that the driver of the car, 17-yearold Marquevius Jocques Osborne of 1520 E. Water St. in Bainbridge, appeared to be nervous. Osborne's driver's license information was found to be a Class CP license (instructional permit).
Edmonds received consent from Osborne to search the vehicle. During the search the juvenile passenger in the vehicle admitted to owning a bag, located inside the vehicle, which had six plastic bags of marijuana inside, according to the report.
Osborne was arrested and charged with driving in violation of a limited permit and expired vehicle tag.
The juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Cairo - Local health department officials report a rise in the number of cases of tuberculosis in Grady County.
Although county health officials say there is no cause for alarm, they do feel an urgency to heighten the public's awareness of the dreaded disease.
"We have had an increase in numbers of cases in Grady County," says Grady County Nurse Manager Peggy Connell. "The increase here mirrors the trend seen in the United States and throughout the world. While the number of cases here is not abnormally high, we take any and all case of tuberculosis seriously.
"TB is a airborne bacteria, and when somebody has an active case of TB, they're contagious if it's in their lungs and they're coughing, sneezing or even talking" she added.
Cuthbert - A Perry, Florida man accused of murder and armed robbery was arrested at a Fort Gaines motel Tuesday morning by federal agents.
Rufus Lee, 21, was arrested by U.S. Marshals as he talked on a cell phone in the parking lot of a Fort Gaines motel around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and attempted murder, Lee is accused of killing one person and shooting another during the robbery of a Perry barber shop on Memorial Day.
He was arrested without incident and has been extradited back to Florid and is currently being held in the Taylor County Jail.
Lee's arrest is the second South Georgia arrest in South Georgia in connection with the robbery. Issac Jackson was arrested in Thomasville in connection with the robbery.
Jackson and Lee are accused of killing Henry and Lee was accused of killing Henry Hughes during an armed robbery at Daddy's Place Barber Shop in Perry, FL.
Dawson - A confirmed case of rabies has been reported in Terrell County.
Terrell resident Otis Tripp reported he shot and killed a raccoon last Friday, June 5, which tested positive for rabies.
According to Mr. Tripp, he had let his puppy out in the backyard of his Old Mill Road residence around 8:20 a.m. last Friday morning, when he suddenly heard the dog start yelping and run by the back door of his home in a hurry.
Mr. Tripp reported he went to investigate and saw a raccoon underneath a utility shed and noticed its aggressive behavior. The raccoon was taken to the State Health District Laboratory in Albany, where it was tested and later confirmed positive for rabies.
