Jacob Mathis, age 13, of Bainbridge died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Egleston's Children Hospital in Atlanta.

Jacob was born December 4, 1995, in Grady County. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was a seventh grade student at Hutto Middle School.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 7, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. Stanley Phillips, Rev. James Scarborough, and Dr. Carl Garnett officiating. Interment followed in Brinson Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Michael V. Mathis and Amanda Swords Mathis and Jenny Davis, Bainbridge; sisters, Cara Ross, Amanda Ross, Brinson, Rebecca Mathis, Bainbridge; brother, Joey Mathis, Bainbridge; grandparents, Eileen Ulmer, Bainbrige, Ronnie E. Jackson and Wanda Swords, Thomasville, Bobby Swords, Blakely, Debroah Jackson, Bainbridge, Ann Mathis and Vernon Mathis, Brinson. Several cousins, aunts, and uncles also survive.

Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
