It's Spring "Clean Up" Time in Colquitt
The City of Colquitt applied in 2008 for designation of a portion of the City as a Revitalization Area. Upon the State's award of that designation, the City continues to move forward with plans for revitalization. Applying for additional state and federal funds that will go toward infrastructure and housing improvements is only a portion of the work being done. Property owners have been encouraged to take bold steps toward revitalizing their properties. Educating citizens and enforcing the City's codes are ongoing parts of the efforts.
With spring in the air, the City has organized a very aggressive event that citizens are encouraged to begin pre- paring for and to take advantage of. The event is "Spring Clean It Up." On April 11, volunteers from the Keep America Beautiful chapter, the Lions Club, and citizens all over the City will gather at 9:00 a.m. at the Miller County Recreation Center Parking Lot. The City is providing pick up and elimination of debris around homes and in the neighborhood absolutely free! Residents are encouraged to begin piling debris where City crews can access efficiently. The debris can be anything from tires, limbs, junk, etc. Our attempt is to "Spruce Up" the Revitalization Area as well as all of Colquitt.
Although concentrated in the Revitalization Area, the City will answer calls from residents anywhere inside the city limits. The City is initiating this special "Clean Up" event and urging citizens to do their part. For more information, please call City Hall at 229-758-1003.
