Bainbridge College to Test 4-Day Work Week This Summer

Bainbridge College President Dr. Tom Wilkerson announced to the college community today (March 4) that the college will move to a four-day week for the summer session. This includes the Early County Site in Blakely. The new schedule will be in effect May 11- July 31, 2009. The work week will be 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday with the college closed on Fridays.

The shortened week is expected to reduce expenditures for energy, which is one way the college is adjusting its reduced budget. This is in addition to previous measures, such as reduced travel.

"The four-day schedule is on a trial basis," Dr. Wilkerson said. "No promises are made that we will stay with such a schedule after July 31 or that we will return to the traditional five-day week. We need to see what we can learn from the experience this summer and whether such scheduling works for our College."
