Mrs. Ruth Brown, age 84, of Jakin, formerly of Donalsonville, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 11, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Dr. Johnny Roberts officiating. Interment followed at Friendship Memorial Garden in Donalsonville.

Mrs. Brown was born in Miller County on November 20, 1924, to the late Buddy Grimes and Irene Grimes Heard. She worked as a bank employee at Merchants and Farmers Bank in Donalsonville for over 34 years, and was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Margie Johnson and her husband Bob of Powell, TN, and Jean Miller and her husband Johnny of Jakin; two sons, Joe Brown of Albany; Ronny Brown of Donalsonville and a foster child, Hubert Touchton of Donalsonville; one brother, Lester Heard and his wife Betty of Thomaston; two sisters, Ester Sheffield and Carolyn Runnels and her husband Edward of Bartow, FL. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buddy Grimes and Irene Grimes Heard and her husband, J. G. Brown.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
