When God asks the questions, He has the answers!

by: Pastor Damien Salazar Miller County Ministerial Fellowship

Exodus 14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Why do you cry unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward:

We find an interesting scenario with Moses and the Hebrew nation. Behind them is Pharaoh's army and in front of them is the Red Sea. Difficulty seemed to follow this particular set of people everywhere they went. For several hundreds of years they had been a nation of prosperity with Gods protection and on the same hand they were cursed for taking the statutes and commandments of God lightly in their hearts. Matthew 15:8 says it best. "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me."

I started to think about the plight of these poor people. For the last four hundred years they were living under the dictatorship of an oppressive King who didn't care who they were or what they had done for the kingdom of Egypt. I can see them worn out, hungry, thirsty and completely overwhelmed. The pressure and hardship started to become a normal existence, but it was far from normal, in fact it was the furthest from the truth.

Everyday it was the same thing. Work and get beat, work and be unappreciated, work and have nothing to show for it other than a kingdom that was not their home and a people that was not their family. The bible says this in Genesis 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

Now there is an invading army and no where to go. What do we do? I can see the people going from celebration to complete fright. " You have done this to us, we are going to die!" Now Moses is in a true predicament " What do I do, God I need you right now!" And God asks the question " Why are you crying out to me?" In other words why are you praying, now is not the time to pray, now is a time of action. You've been praying all this time, do something about it. Move forward! James 2:17-24 says, Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

God already has the answer to all of our needs. We need to get back to trusting Him. The bible says that God cannot lie. If He cannot lie, then we can trust that He will never leave us nor forsake us. These days look bleak but we can still trust God to deliver the righteous. In obedience Moses led the children of Israel to the sea's edge and moved forward. First the staff was spread across the water, then the waters began to part and the nation as a whole took the first step into the unknown. The result is they crossed over to the other side upon dry ground. The enemy was destroyed. Maybe we to need to move forward in our lives. We've been praying and God has been listening but He is gently prodding us to move forward. Deuteronomy 28:13 says, And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: Just that quickly our lives can change if we will trust the voice of God. After all He said my sheep know my voice.

In closing the nation that was oppressed left blessed. The nation full of fear became a nation feared. A nation considered lost became found. Amazing grace how sweet the sound indeed! As Paul Harvey would say " And now the rest of the story." Genesis 15:14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. Israel walked out of bondage blessed and so shall the man that seeks the Lord and follows after Him.

May God richly bless you in all that you do is my prayer.
