This was a new experience for the state and for Miller County students.

Last year the Knowledge and Skill events were given at the state level, and Miller County students were very successful.

This year State HOSA decided to administer all knowledge events on-line, with the top 10% advancing to state competition. The testing week was Jan. 12-16. Mrs. Harriet Lane and Mr. Cleve Roland served as proctors for the exams. The tests consisted of either 50 or 100 questions. The teacher, Mrs. Georgia Ann Israel, wasn't allowed at the testing site.

The region consists of the following counties: Baker, Ben Hill, Brooks, Calhoun, Clay, Colquitt, Cook, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Irwin, Lee, Mitchell, Quitman, Randolph, Seminole, Terrell, Thomas, Turner, and Worth.

The following students competed in these events: Medical Terminology - Tabitha Grant, Toya Bush, Semeria Curry, and Shanice Grimsley; Nursing Assisting - Denise Torres and Erika Benton; Medical Spelling - Brittany Grant and Mary K. Spooner; Biotech - Niki Widner; Veterinary Assisting - Brooke Widner; Medical Math - Candice Adams; Pathophisiology - Samantha Figueroa; Concepts of Healthcare - LaTonya Williams and Breche Roberts; Nutrition - Shakell Grant.

All of the students that competed in the on-line region testing will advance to state competition.

This competition will be held in Athens, Georgia on March 5-7.
