Bainbridge- A Highway 27 north crash flung a man from his truck and sent him tumbling down the highway on Wednesday afternoon.

Bradley Williams was pulling out of Rathel's on Highway 27 north. He failed to see the oncoming truck driven by Bobby Barber. Barber's truck struck Williams' F-150 at his door, and the truck was flung around almost 360 degrees. The door flung open, and Bradley Williams flew out and tumbled down the highway.

A Rathel's Towing and Body employee was in the front parking lot when the crash occurred. Johnny Palmer stated that Williams tumbled down the highway 25-30 feet. Another witness, immediately on scene, stated she stopped to find Mr, Williams lying face down in the road. He was able to get to his feet and out of the middle of the highway.

Robert Tate, a volunteer fire chief, was also at Rathel's at the time of the crash and assisted Bradley Williams until EMS arrived. Williams was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Trooper C. L. Hall and a cadet in training with him worked the crash scene.

Blakely - Three Blakely homes have been lost to fire beginning with a fire at 499 Liberty St. shortly after 4 p.m. last Monday in which a woman suffered second and third degree burns to her arms and back. The woman, Glynda Byrd, was flown to the burn center in Augusta by helicopter.

While the fire department as on standby for the LifeFlight helicopter at Early Memorial Hospital, a call to a second house fire was received around 7 p.m. on Lucile Road.

When firemen arrived at the scene, they found the home of Theresa Foster engulfed in flames. The home was destroyed by the fire along with two family dogs.

Shortly after noon Tuesday firemen were called to a house fire at Mathis Lane which completed destroyed the wooden home of Sarah Roseborough. The fire caused heat damage to an adjacent mobile home and a grass fire firemen had to battle to extinguish.

No one was at home when the Foster home or the Roseborough homes caught fire.

Camilla - In the Thomas County Jail sits a Mitchell County man, charged with kidnapping.

On January 15, Jimmy Frank Gardner of Camilla forced his estranged wife against her will into his 1997 Ford Explorer.

Gardner kidnapped his wife, Kelanda Gardner, who had recently moved from Mitchell County to Thomasville, as she was walking back to her home from a relative's. Gardner pulled a gun and forced her into his truck.

As soon as she got inside the store, she told employees to call for help.

Mr. Gardner then entered the store to get his wife. As he was paying for items, she broke away and ran out the door.

Witnesses said that they observed a man chasing a woman around the store, threatening to kill her.

As the police arrived, the suspect then threatened suicide by placing his firearm to his chin.

Police say he then got in his car and fled the scene with lawmen in close pursuit behind him. The suspect stopped at all lights and didn't drive at a high speed.

With a successful PIT maneuver, Lt. Chuck Mc- Donald forced Gardner's SUV into a ditch on US 19. Gardner flipped the vehicle and was later checked out by emergency personnel and taken into custody.
