| Miller County's Heath McNease just returned home from a 10 month tour of more than half of the states in the USA. He has been touring full-time since January, playing wherever the invitation is extended. His tour has taken him all the way from Georgia to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and eventually out to Los Angeles, California. |

Surrounded by hundreds of pumpkins, Emma Grace Donley enjoyed her first visit to Mark's Melon Patch in Sasser last Saturday. She enjoyed the day with her Mama, Bubbles, Nanny, Mimi, and several of her cousins fromValdosta and St. Mary’s. Emma Grace is the ten-week-old daughter of Brian and Wendi Donley of Colquitt.

On Halloween night anything can happen! The Miller County Pirates traveled up the road a little ways to face the Calhoun County Cougars of Edison. You might say, this is the toughest Calhoun has played in a long time. The Pirates defeated Calhoun County 35- 20 and won the Sub-Region Championship.

| On a beautiful fall day, the American Legion Post #165 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6046 of Colquitt, Miller County, presented a Veterans' Day program. The program is on the 11th day of the 11th month and starts on the 11th hour each year. |

| Just a few weeks ago, gas prices were tipping $4.00 per gallon. As of Monday evening, the lowest posted gas price in the nation was $1.12 per gallon at Ellensburg, WA. Monday, the national average price per gallon was $1.87. |

| Miller County High School was honored as a winner of the 2008 Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) Awards. "We received a gold award for making great gains in student achievement," stated Principal Robert McIntosh. |

| The Colquitt/Miller County Fire-EMS Department held its first banquet together. The two departments merged to become one in the last year, and it is working well. |

| According to a recent article in the Albany Herald's sports section, "Best of the Best," the best rivalry was The Family Feud - Miller County vs. Seminole County. In the same section, "Best of the Best," Miller County's Pirate Mascot was voted, "Best Mascot." It read: "There's not a harder working man in the business. |
