Brown stated that she and her six-year-old daughter were traveling east bound on Kirkland Road. When she drove past an irrigation system that was shooting water across the roadway, Brown stated that she then lost control of her vehicle due to the slick mud and ran into the eastbound ditch. On May 8, Amber Lynn Kelley and Susan Cowart were traveling south on Milford St. Kelley was following too close to Shantrice Shena Cheatem and struck her Honda Accord in the rear, causing it to hit Cowart's Chevrolet Lumina in the rear. All three vehicles were removed from the scene by the drivers. Amber Lynn Kelley was at fault for following too close. On May 9, Kevin Alexander Branch was parked in a northern direction in the parking lot with the vehicle unattended while he was at work. Vehicle vs. Deer On May 9, David Travers Green was traveling west on Cooktown Road when a deer came out in front of him and struck the front of the vehicle. There was moderate damage to Green's Toyota Tacoma. Suspended License On May 9, while out on patrol, Officer Greg Richey met with Deputy Price at Sugar Hill. While speaking with Deputy Price, Officer Richey heard some loud music coming from a vehicle. Officer Richey then observed a silver Ford F-150 traveling east on Crawford St. After running a check of Neptali Decidero Diaz's license, they came back suspended. Diaz was charged with driving on suspended license and loud music. Disorderly Conduct On May 9, Officer Lonnie Wade was dispatched to E. Bush St. in reference to a medical call. Officer Wade stated that Robert Newberry was having chest pains and thoughts of suicide. Newberry was transported to the Miller County Emergency Room where he started being combative with hospital employees. Newberry was highly intoxicated and using threatening remarks. Newberry was then arrested for disorderly conduct. Theft by Taking On May 9, Officer Jason Wells was called to Citizens Propane to look at stolen property behind the building. Public Drunk On May 11, Officer Greg Richey received a phone call from an off-duty police officer in reference to a group of juveniles drinking. The youngest was a 15-year-old male. The 17-year-old male, Robert Baker, was then transported to the Miller County Jail and charged with the offense of public drunk. Possession of Marijuana On May 8, Officer Jason Wells was called to 406 Bush Street to follow up on a theft. The night before, Demetrius Grimsley had power tools stolen and possibly knew where they were (a man told him he thought he knew where they were). Officer Wells went to speak with the man. No one answered when he knocked on the door, but he heard voices on the east side of the house. Walking around, the officer recognized all three men, Lorenzo Baker, 18; Jamarcus Roseborough, 17; and George Coke, 46. A strong odor of marijuana lingered, and smoke could be seen. Roseborough quickly concealed something in his right pants pocket when he saw Officer Wells. When questioned, he pulled out a bottle of pills, which he claimed were his mother's, but the name was scratched off of the label. The officer called Drug Agent Seth Maxwell to assist him. When asked where the marijuana was, Baker stated they were smoking black and mild and flicked it away. Officer Wells looked, but didn't see anything burning. He did, however, see a joint under the feet of a coke at the edge of the couch. The officer picked it up, and then all three admitted to smoking it and stated they found it on the ground. All three were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana less than an ounce. The pill bottle was turned over to Drug Task Force Agent Maxwell. |
