Martha burns

Mrs. Martha Burns, age 85, of Colquitt died Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Mrs. Burns was born March 14, 1923, in Miller County to the late Albert and Minnie Cowart. She attended St. Mary Elementary School and was employed by SOWEGA Council on Aging. She was a member of St. Mary Church and served faithfully until her health failed.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 8, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Kelvin Wells officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Olive Church Cemetery.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Survivors include her children, Minnie (Joe) Livingston, Gladys (Robert) Burr, Colquitt, Vivian Samuel and Christine McCullough, Bainbridge, Betty (William) Morris, Newton, L.B. Burns, Fayetteville, NC, Charlie Burns (Teresa) New Jersey, Lester (Susie) Burns, Albert (Cheryl) Burns, Andrew (Diane) Burns, all of San Antonio, TX; 37 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Williams' Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
