Altha Smith Barber Altha Smith Barber, age 92, of Jakin passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville. Funeral services were held Friday, May 9, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. James Scarborough and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Barber was born in Henry County, AL, on August 28, 1915, to the late Charlie and Cora Adams Smith. She was a homemaker, a member of Pineview Community Club, Jakin Garden Club, Home Demonstration Club and also a member of First Baptist Church in Donalsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Barber. She is survived by one son, David Barber and his wife Faye of Brunswick; a daughter, Marsha Tyler and her husband Thomas and a daughterin law Patsy Barber, all of Donalsonville; one brother, Billly Smith of Nashville; one sister, Robbie Kesler of Atlanta. She is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Cora Adams Smith; her husband, Pete Barber; one son, Jerry Barber; and two grandsons, Johnny and Tichie Tyler. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. |
