Former resident killed in one vehicle accident
by MCL staff writer

Blake Lusk
A accident occurred Saturday, May 10, when Kenneth Blake Lusk, 23, of Arlington, was killed when the vehicle that he was driving overturned. The accident was found and reported at 6:54 a.m., and an officerand rescue workers were on the scene at 7:08 a.m.

According to the accident report, Kenneth Blake Lusk, 23, of P.O. Box 148, Arlington, was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck north on GA 45. The vehicle entered the east shoulder of the highway for 104.5 feet before re-entering the roadway. The driver over-corrected, causing the truck to travel across both lanes of travel for 82 feet and start to rollover in the southbound lane. The vehicle then overturned several times, traveling an additional 101.1 feet, ejecting the driver. The driver was 17.2 feet from the stopping point of the vehicle on the west side of the highway.

Coroner Billy Joe Jordan stated that the exact time of the accident has not been determined, but the victim was most probably killed instantly when he was ejected from the vehicle he was driving. He was not wearing a seat belt, (which is legal only in Georgia in trucks) and sustained head and chest injuries that were fatal. He was declared dead on the scene.

The contributing factor causing the accident was the driver was on the wrong side of the road and driver lost control, according to Deputy Sheriff Tommy Owens of the Early County Sheriff Department.

Blake was a 2003 Miller County High School graduate who lettered in baseball and football. He was a graduate of Darton College and was employed at the Albany YMCA where he enjoyed working with youth and adults.

Blake was making plans to continue his education later in the year.

Some of his Miller County teachers stated that Blake was a quiet, respectful young man that did well scholastically.

Blake was the son Mike Lusk of Albany and Frank and Cindy Killingsworth of Arlington. His step-father, Frank Killingsworth, is the principal of Miller County Middle School and head football coach at Miller County High School.
