Ebony Dots & Dashes
by Katie Smith

Mr. Hezikiah Benton Sr. and Mrs. Katie Smith were fortunate to have someone to drive for them on last Saturday. They wanted to attend a relative's funeral in Havana, FL, and Mr. Benton doesn't drive in fast traffic anymore. So, Mrs. Smith's having many great-grandchildren obliged by getting one of her greatgranddaughters and her husband to take the two of them to Havana. They had a safe trip there and back. Thank God for good grandchildren.

On Sunday the funeral of Mrs. Dicie Mae Cheatem was held at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church where Rev. Archie Crews is pastor.

Our community was saddened on Sunday morning when news came that Mrs. Martha Burns had passed. She had lived for many years in the Spring Creek Villas, and last year her health, failing her, her children moved her to Mr. and Mrs. Burr's home, where she would have 24 hour supervision. Funeral services will be later.

On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Harvest Williams motored to Atlanta to spend the weekend with their son, Tavis and his wife Latesa. On Sunday they traveled over to Commerce to the Atlanta Dragway. At one time, it seemed that it would rain all day, but as the sounds of the cars started, the excitement and speed of the racers take your breath away. There were many spectators, and every moment of the race was enjoyed. This was Latesa's first race, and she really enjoyed it. We thank the Lord for a joyful and blessed weekend.

Scotty Roberts and family, the son of Ms. Gloria Roberts, was home from the war in Iraq. He and his family worshipped at his home church, New Salem F.W.B. Church last Sunday. It was good to see Scotty; he is like one of my grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Flora Lee Anderson Bonaparte will be held Tuesday at Pleasant Hill M.B. Church in Baker County. She is the daughter of the late Mr. Robert Anderson and Mrs. Lula Bell Anderson and the sister of Rev. Samuel Anderson.
