Candidates are officially off and running

The race is now official, and although a number of the candidates have let you know that they are running, the list is now complete, almost.

If you intended to run for one of the local offices, circuit or state of- fices and your photo isn't above, forget it until next time unless you are running as a Republican or a Non-Partisan official.

The time to pay in to qualify ended at noon last Friday, May 2, at noon. Some of the offices that were up for election have drawn multiple candidates. Some of them have no opposition.

The official local races that candidates qualified for with the Probate Judge are as follows:

If the candidate or incumbent candidate does not have opposition, or there is no Republican candidate, he/she is unofficially elected to that office.

One state officer has officially thrown his hat into the ring, State Representative Gerald Greene, and Pataula Circuit District Attorney candidate Craig Earnest.

All of the candidates listed will run in the July 15, Democratic Primary.

Non-Partisan candidates such as judges cannot qualify until June 23. The last day for a nonpartisan candidates to qualify will be at noon, June 27.

Rodney Bryan Board of Education, Dist. 1
If a candidate in any race does not win by over 50 percent, there will be a run-off primary for the two candidates with the highest number of votes on August 5.

The winners of the primaries and the non-partisan candidates will be on the General Election ballot on Tuesday, November 4.

In the November election, the voters do not have to choose which party they vote in and can vote for any candidate of their choice.
