New Hospital policy now in effect
by MCL staff writer

The Hospital Authority of Miller County at its regular March meeting adopted a new emergency room triage policy for non-emergent care provided in the ER setting.

This new policy is in response to other area hospitals, such as Memorial Hospital & Manor located in Bainbridge placing a similar policy within their institution. The policy is aimed to ensure a medical screening evaluation is completed on all patients to assure that no emergency medical condition exists. If no medical emergency condition exists and the patient continues to seek non-emergency service in the ER, the patient will be required to provide current insurance coverage information and/or payment for services (a deposit of $100) will be requested. The patient will have the option to seek less costly medical treatment at the physician's office. This new policy became effective April 1, 2008.
