MCES Chorus receives all excellent ratings

MCES Chorus is "Excelllent."

The Miller County Elementary School Chorus attended the large group performance evaluation in Albany on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

This event, sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association, is open to choirs of elementary to high school age in each district (MCEC Chorus is in District 2).

Each choir that participated sang two songs of their choice where three judges evaluated them on the different musical areas of tone, pitch, rhythm, balance and blend, diction, interpretation and appearance.

The two selections performed by the MCES Chorus were "Mary Had A Little Blues" by Charles A. Collins and "Gloria Fanfare" by Sally K. Albrecht.

The MCES Chorus received an excellent rating from each judge and several positive comments on their performance. This is the second highest score a chorus can receive.

The MCES Chorus is under the excellent direction of Holly Thomas, and their piano accompanist is Becky LaGuardia. The chorus was also accompanied by Kyle Roberts on the trumpet, who is a junior at Miller County High School.

Many parents and grandparents attended this event to show their support for this choir. A big thank you goes out to all the parents and grandparents who have encouraged these students and made sure they have been to scheduled practices. In addition, a huge "thank you" goes to Mrs. Maridel Callan and Mrs. Renee Haire for their help and encouragement. (Ratings in order from best to worst are Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor)
