SGA State Literary Competition

Southwest Georgia Academy's Literary Team took home the second runnerup trophy from the GISA AA State Competition at Valdosta State University March 11. Thirteen schools competed. In individual events, the school garnered two first-place wins, one second-place win, and two third-place wins.

Junior Will Murdock placed first in dramatic interpretation, and freshman Maggie Bridges placed first in girls' solo.

The girls' trio, consisting of Bridges, junior Kimber Henley, and junior Camille Whittaker placed second.

Sophomore Michaelyn Newberry won third place in humorous interpretation. The boys' quartet, consisting of sophomore Ben Burkett, junior Will Murdock, senior Beau Clenney, and senior Blake Shepard placed third as well.

Also competing was junior Lane Hudson in boys' argumentative essay. Literary coaches accompanying the group were Debbie Sloan and Sherri Newberry.
