Local politics heating up
by MCL staff writer
In the March 5, edition of the Miller County Liberal, four candidates announced that they would offer for election.
In last week's edition of the Miller County Liberal,
Craig Earnest, announced that he plans to offer himself for the Pataula Circuit District Attorney in the July 15, 2008, General Primary. Wallace Phillips announced that he will be running for Miller County Commissioner, District 3.
David Givens announced he will also run for Miller County Commissioner, District 3.
In this edition of the Miller County Liberal,
Robert T. (Bob) Eldridge announced that he will offer himself for the office of Miller County Clerk of Superior Court. As candidates offer themselves to the offices that will be up for election or re-election, the Miller County Liberal will inform the public as they announce publicly.
In the 13 offices that will be up for election or re-election, there have been candidates who have announced their intentions to offer for election or reelection in this newspaper except for Miller County Commissioner, District 1, Miller County Board of Education member, District 1, and District 5, State Court Judge, State Court Solicitor and Miller County Coroner.
As the office holders or candidates officially announce themselves for election or re-election in this newspaper we will report it. We will not speculate.
Any citizen of this county who meets the qualifications to run for office, can announce at anytime. The official four and onehalf days' time window that candidates can file for candidacy to run in the July 15, 2008, General Primary, will open April 28, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. and end at noon, May 2, 2008.
When they qualify to run for a particular office, candidates must declare which primary (Democrat or Republican) they are running in, unless they run only in the nonpartisan election on November 4.
The winners in their primary will be on the General Election ballot on November 4, 2008.
