Carolyn Dunn Stapleton Carolyn Dunn Stapleton of Albany, formerly of Donalsonville, died on January 22, 2008. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, at the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, followed by a brief burial service at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Stapleton was born in Cairo, on July 21, 1921. She was the daughter of William Ellison Dunn, Jr. and Olive Siler Dunn. She graduated from the public schools in Donalsonville and attended Agnes Scott College. She was married to Edgar Pearson Stapleton, an attorney in Donalsonville, on March 21, 1941. Mr. Stapleton predeceased her in 1971. Mrs. Stapleton played the organ for the First Baptist Church for 55 years. She was active in the PTA throughout the school years of her children, served as a den mother for the Cub Scout troop, and was active in the Women's Club of Donalsonville. A spunky lady, she was a competitive golfer, an active sports mother and an avid sports fan in general. Mrs. Stapleton is survived by her daughter, Kaye Stapleton (Tom) Redford, of Richmond, Virginia; her son, Ellison Dunn (Nealy) Stapleton of Albany; fivegrandchildren, Tucker Stapleton (Suzanne) Redford of Charlotte, North Carolina, Leigh Carolyn Redford of Richmond, Virginia, Anne Redford (Robert) Schleusner of Charlotte, North Carolina, Culver Stapleton (Chuck) Scales of Durham, North Carolina, and Dixon Stapleton of Atlanta; and fivegreat-grandchildren. Carolyn Stapleton will be remembered for her love of church, community and family, her beautiful music, and the unselfish generosity of her time, talent, and treasure.
