LELAND G. CHANEL Mr. Leland G. Channell passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at the age of 80. Mr. Channell was a recent resident of Hartford, AL, and former resident of Buhl, AL. He is the last member of his family which included his parents and 10 brothers and sisters. There will be a private memorial service with Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hartford Health Care, 217 Toro Road, Hartford, AL 36344, Wiregrass Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303 or to the American Cancer Society, NCICFUL, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454. He lived a full life, serving in the military for several years. He worked as a carpenter and aircraft mechanic. For a short while he was a member of Golden Gloves Boxing, but most of his life was dedicated as a minister of the Gospel. He was an avid Bible student and graduated from International Bible College of Florence, AL. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Booth Channell of Hartford; three daughters: Bonita and her husband, Lamar Helms of Dothan, AL, Deborah and her husband, William Carr of Enterprise, AL; Polly Toole of Savannah; one son, Tony Lee Channell of Opp, AL; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb was in charge of arrangements. |
