Vehicle Accident

On November 2nd Lucas Hartley Brooks was traveling east on Babcock Road and ran off the side of the roadway. Brooks then over corrected his 2004 Ford pickup and lost control. The vehicle entered into the ditch on the north side of the road and through a fence. The vehicle traveled sideways through the ditch and into the field, where it overturned onto it's roof after striking a few small trees.

On November 2nd, Emma Murkerson was cutting across parking lane's west to east. Mattie Audrey Dunn had made a left turn traveling north down driving lane when Murkerson hit Dunn on the drivers side rear door.

Wanted Person

On October 28th Officer Scott Cleveland initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding. The driver, Misty Lynn Blair, license were put through the database and came back as suspended and that Blair had two warrants for her arrest through Decatur County. At this time Blair was placed under arrest and transported to the Miller County Jail to be held for Decatur County. While at the jail Officer Cleveland also served Blair with notice of suspension of her license.

Damage to Property

On October 29th Officer Lonnie Wade was dispatched to E. College Street in reference to a damage to property. Upon his arrival, Officer Wade spoke with Richard Carpenter who stated that on October 28th around 6:30 p.m., he noticed that the mailbox was not damaged as he was leaving the business after closing hours, and when he returned back to work on October 29th, around 8:50 a.m., he noticed that the mailbox had been struck down and damaged. After further investigation, Officer Wade determined the mailbox had been struck by an unknown vehicle/truck. The mailbox was valued at one hundred dollars. The statements were taken along with pictures and the case is still ongoing.

DUI

On November 1st while on patrol in the area of Milford Street, Officer Dan Stone noticed a black in color Isuzu Rodeo traveling north weaving in the road. At one point the driver was also riding the middle line of the road almost into oncoming traffic. Officer Stone stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver,

Yuwanda Denise Bush. Officer Stone asked her for her license and proof of insurance. At this time he could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. He then noticed a cup, sitting on the passenger side of the vehicle. Officer Stone asked Bush what was in the cup and she stated "Hunch Punch". Officer Stone then got Bush out of the vehicle. Bush was very unsteady on her feet, and almost stumbled into the road. Officer Stone got Bush off to the side and administered the Horizontal Gauge and Nastagmus Test. Bush had unset of Nastagmus prior to 45 degrees and sustained Nastagmus at maximum deviation. Officer Stone then administered a road side Alco sensor test which revealed positive results for alcohol. Bush was then placed under arrest for DUI and read the implied consent. Bush was transported to the Miller County Jail and administered the Intox. 5,000 Test. The first result was .152GRMS% and the second sample was .153GRMS%. Bush was then booked and paper work completed.
