Near head-on, no injuries
Auto sustained damage to left driver's side in near head-on. Near head-on, no injuries An accident occurred on SR 91 North of Colquitt, just south of the Miller-Baker county line.
On Wednesday, October 29, Cynthia Launa Smith of 1054 Brinson Road, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala east on SR 91. The vehicle is listed as being owned by Dixon Smith. Ms. Smith was
injuries making a left turn off of the highway and failed to yield to on coming traffic.
Ricky Lamar O'Hearn, of 1108 Grady Cobb Road, was traveling west on SR 91 in his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
Smith's vehicle struck the front bumper and down the left side of his truck.
O'Hearn stated that he attempted to miss the auto, but saw a drive and a culvert, so he pulled as far over as possible to miss hitting the culvert.
Neither driver was injured, but just a few more inches, it would have been a head-on collision.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
According to investigating Deputy Sheriff Robert Grier, the contributing factor causing the accident was that Ms. Smith did not yeild as she turned left off of the highway. Both drivers were wearing lap and shoulder belts
