Bainbridge - First there was a call regarding Henry Jackson fighting a girlfriend on Troup Street, then his car crashed through the trees on Highway 97 south.

About 2:30 am Friday night, Public Safety Officer Gary Hines responded to a call on Troup Street. The victim reported to him that when she arrived home, Henry Jackson was standing across the street waiting for her.

She reported an intoxicated Henry followed her into the residence cussing and yelling at her with her kids watching helplessly. Henry followed her into the bedroom and swung and hit her. She began to fight back and her kids also tried to make him stop. Finally he sped off.

About 3 am, his car left the highway on Highway 97 south. His car went down and up an embankment and flew into the wooded area. Taking down several small trees, a larger tree finally stopped him and he violently flipped around 180 degrees.

Deputies, Fire and Rescue, Volunteers and EMS all responded to the crash scene, but no one was there. Evidently, he was not hurt so badly that he could not flee the crash. Henry Jackson is reported to be from Quincy FL.

Cairo - Cairo police say a teenaged girl kidnapped Sunday owes her safe return to a nine year old boy and two motorists.

The 16-year-old was baby sitting her nine-year-old nephew and three younger children at their home when a masked man broke into the residence in southwest Cairo around 5:30 p.m. The girl, ran into a room with the children and locked them all inside. The man, however, was able to force his way inside, tie up the girl's hands and drag her from the home.

The nine-year-old immediately called 911 and reported his aunt had been kidnapped. "The boy probably saved her life," says Tony Turner, investigator with the Cairo Police Department.

While officers were enroute to the area, a concerned citizen reported to 911 a female in a vehicle looked like she was fighting to get out.

Officers hurried to the area. When they topped a hill, they spotted the suspect holding the female against a car at the bottom of the hill. The suspect immediately ran into a wooded area where he was able to elude officers.

The girl, who was unharmed, is Spanish speaking, but was able to communicate with officers through the interpretation skills of Cairo Police Lt. Giovannie Santos. She said she recognized the man when he removed his mask as someone she had worked with on various occasions.

Investigator Turner says the suspect is 22-year-old Julio Jimenez, who has resided in Grady County. He is now wanted on nine warrants including kidnapping, burglary, and aggravated assault.

Dawson - Dawson police are continuing their investigation into a break-in at a Dawson business last Monday night.

According to Chief Whitehead, officers responded to an alarm going off at Daw- son Easy Pay Tire Store on Main Street around 11:15 p.m. and upon arrival, discovered one of the windows on the front of the store had been broken.

Two 9 mm pistols, both valued at $150 each, were reported stolen in the incident, Chief Whitehead said.

Donalsonville - Mellanie Poole, a seventh grade teacher was recently chosen as the 2008-2009 Middle High School Teacher of the Year for the Seminole County School system. Dr. Poole has been teaching at Seminole County for 17 years.

She currently serves as the middle school science department chair, National Junior Honor Society Advisor, School Council Member, SACS Steering Committee, and as a TAPP/Practicum Mentor. She is also on the 4-H Advisory Council and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Dr. Poole was reared in Miller County where she graduated from high school. She attended Troy University in Dothan and received a BS degree in elementary education and also a MS degree in education. Most recently, she received an education specialist degree in curriculum and instruction and a doctorate degree in instructional leadership from Argosy University in Florida.

Dr. Poole is married to Phillip Poole and they have two children, Tyler and Ashton. Tyler is currently a student at ABAC in Tifton and Ashton is a 9th grader at Seminole County. Her parents are Charles and Betty Thorne of Colquitt.
