Nursing Home News

by Suzanne Griffin

Residents at Miller Nursing Home have had a very busy week this past week and another full week planned for this week.

We started with Sunday School on Sunday morning, and members from Colquitt Free Will Baptist came to share on Sunday afternoon.

Monday morning Ms. Linnie Gibson came to give our Bible study; we then had our monthly Volunteer meeting and had a round of This and That in the afternoon.

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, we enjoyed playing bingo. Our ladies enjoyed having their nails painted in preparation for the birthday party on Wednesday.

The Joy Lighters came to share in song on Tuesday night. Colquitt First Baptist had our church service on Wednesday morning.

Our monthly birthday party was hosted this month by Colquitt United Methodist Church.

Thursday afternoon we had a time of exercise, and that evening we had our monthly sing. This is always an enjoyable time for not only the residents, but also the staff.

Friday morning we had a special treat. The children from Head Start came to sing for us. Friday afternoon we had a good time decorating gourds and have used them throughout the facility for some of our fall decorations. I would like to invite each of you to come by and see our decorations.

We had another special treat this week. The WMU from Damascus Baptist brought a gift for each of the residents. It's always exciting for them receiving gifts, and we are so very thankful.

I want to remind each of you about the bake sale we are having Friday. The sale will start at 9:00 a.m. and will last until everything is gone. If you are bringing goodies for the bake sale, you can bring them by my office Thursday until 4:30 p.m. or please make sure they are here by 8:30 a.m. Friday morning in order for us to get everything marked and ready to sale. I hope that all of you are making plans to come and purchase some of our homemade goodies. We will have whole cakes, candies, and pies. Look forward to seeing you then.
