The first quarter of the 2008-2009 term for students at Miller County Adult Education ended on September 30, 2008. During this quarter, Josh Chambliss completed the requirements for receiving a GED diploma. Students who receive a GED diploma also receive a tuition voucher for $500 payable to any Georgia college. Students who complete requirements for GED diplomas are also eligible to participate in the GED graduation held annually in July.

Level completers for first quarter were Josh Chambliss, Sharon Curry, Jonathan Simmons, Joseph Stolze, Jeremy Weeks, and Hunter Whiddon. Each of these stu- dents received a certificate, a dictionary and a coupon from Hardee's as rewards for their success. Level completions are goals students must achieve as they prepare for the GED test and their ultimate goal of receiving a GED diploma.

In addition to successfully completing levels, students must also meet attendance requirements. Sharon Curry, Joseph Stolze, Jeremy Weeks, and Hunter Whiddon were each presented a certificate and a Domino's coupon for meeting attendance goals.

The Miller County Adult Learning Center is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings from 8:00-12:00. Adult Education is located downstairs in the Miller County Arts Council Building. The program is individualized to meet the needs of students. Students must attend a minimum of six hours per week. For further information, please call Becky Braswell at 758- 4157.
