Driving While License

Suspended/Revoked

On October 8, Officer Dale Glover observed a vehicle that appeared to be traveling faster than the posted speed limit of 55 mph. Officer Glover activated his radar, and the vehicle was traveling at 86 mph. Officer Glover turned around on the vehicle and made a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, Seth David Clements, Officer Glover asked for his driver's license and advised him of why he was stopped. Clements' license returned as being revoked. Clements was arrested and transported to the Miller County Jail.

Vehicle Accident

On October 11, Sarah Lindsay Miller was traveling southbound on Three- Notch Road, when a deer entered the roadway from the east, traveling west, collided with the vehicle on the front right fender, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

On October 8, Phillip Loyd Cook stated that he was stopped behind a red SUV at the stop sign on Perry Street and North First Street when his vehicle was hit from the back. Michael Daniel Bailey stated that he tried to stop, but his brakes started making his vehicle skid, causing him to hit Cook in the rear bumper.

On October 9, Sherita Lashae Huntley stated that her foot slipped off the brake, and she backed into Rita Powell Bradley. Bradley was inside the building at the time.

Disorderly Conduct

On October 6, Officer Lonnie Wade spoke to a shift supervisor who stated that two of his employees got into a verbal argument and physical contact over a bet that the two had made over a football game. Officer Wade spoke to Jimmy McEntyre who stated that he and Elton Johnson did get into a verbal and physical altercation and that he did strike Elton Johnson on the left side of his stomach with a broken broom after Elton tried to pick up a folded chair and strike him with it. Johnson was not on the scene at the time. He was transported to the E.R. by a family member to get checked out. Officer Wade placed McEntyre under arrest and placed him in his patrol car and transported him to the Miller County Jail, where he was booked and released. Officer Wade then made contact with Johnson at the Police Department and advised him of the incident and placed him under arrest and transported him to the Miller County Jail, where he was booked and released.

Damage to Vehicle

On October 1, Officer Chris Medina spoke with

Jill Moten who advised that when she parked her 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, black in color, the window was not broken on it, but her son heard a rock hit the porch, and he went outside and saw that the back window had been shattered with a rock.

Larceny

On October 7, Officer Lonnie Wade spoke to Brandy Marie Fetty who stated that her push lawn mower was missing or stolen. The statements were taken, and the case is still ongoing.

On October 7, Officer Lonnie Wade was contacted in person at the Police Department in reference to theft by taking. Officer Wade spoke to Becky Joiner who stated that she and a co-worker drove the golf cart to the I.G.A. parking lot and went inside to purchase some items, leaving behind in the cart a new roll of caution tape for the job. Joiner stated that when they returned to the cart to leave, they noticed that the tape was gone. The statements were taken, and the case is still ongoing.

Driving Under Influence

On October 10, Officer Jason Wells was dispatched to Pic-N-Save to work an accident. One of the parties involved was Mona Bailey who was at fault in the accident backing her Ford Ranger into another vehicle. While working the accident, Officer Wells smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the personal area of Bailey. Officer Wells performed a roadside Breathalyzer in which Bailey failed. Bailey was placed under arrest and implied consent was read, and she agreed to take the breath test at the jail. Bailey took the test at the jail, performed by Captain Dan Stone, which she ran .138 and .140. She was charged with DUI under .138. Three empty mini bottles of Lord Calvert was found in the passenger side floorboard. She was also charged with open container.

Suspended Registration

On October 11, Officer Dan Stone heard loud music for more than 100 feet coming from a green color Honda Accord. Officer Stone turned around and stopped the vehicle at Citizens Propane. Officer Stone asked the driver,

Alias Tomas Mateo, for his license and insurance. Mateo stated that he only had a license from Mexico and had no valid license in the United States. Officer Stone then ran a check on the tag that the offender was driving, and it came back no valid insurance and registration suspended. Officer Stone also noticed a beer bottle in the pocket of the back passenger seat that was cold and about half full. Officer Stone asked Mateo if he had been drinking, and he stated no. Officer Stone then administered a road side alco-sensor test on the offender which did read positive for alcohol, but the offender was not DUI. Officer Stone then placed Mateo under arrest for suspended registration and transported him to the Miller County Sheriff 's Office.
