The Jr. Pirates started the game with Will Durham, Jocoby Register, Bo Mock, K. J. Warren, Chris Stovall, Kohler Tabb, Dakota Phillips, Gene Douglas, Buck Bodrey, Briar Johnson, and Tucker Spence playing on the offensive side of the ball.
During the first series, #99 Tucker Spence, center, snapped the ball to #10 Bo Mock, quarterback; Mock handed the ball off to #30 Chris Stovall, running back, for a loss of 5 yards. Next, a pass to #11 K. J. Warren, running back, was incomplete. A fumbled snap to #9 Jocoby Register, running back, led the Pirates back to the original line of scrimmage. On fourth and 12, the Jr. Pirates went for it, and #9 Register ran to the right side for a 3 yard gain. The ball was turned over on downs.
The Jr. Pirates lined up with Leslie Roseborough, Jacoby Register, K. J. Warren, Jacob Bryan, Chris Stovall, Dakota Phillips, Seth Jenkins, Dalton Gowan, Gene Douglas, Buck Bodrey, and Tucker Spence defensively.
On the defense, the Cowboys fumbled and recovered with a 10 yard loss; #50 Seth Jenkins, defensive end, tackled the quarterback for a 5 yard loss for the Cowboys. The whole defensive line sacked the quarterback, and the Cowboys punted.
In the second series, #11 Warren, had a 12 yard gain. Next, a hand-off to #30 Stovall on the right side resulted in an 8 yard loss. A first down at the 15 yard line came after a pass from #10 Mock to #11 Warren. At the end of the first quarter, the Jr. Pirates had a first and goal, but #10 Mock made an incomplete pass to #9 Register. The ball was then handed off to #30 Stovall, who ran around the right side behind #75 Briar Johnson, #11 Warren, and #52 Gene Douglas for the first touchdown of the day. The extra point was no good for a score of 6-0 with the Jr. Pirates leading.
With the Jr. Pirates on defense, #22 Jacob Bryan, defensive corner back, with an assist from #44 Dakota Phillips, linebacker, tackled the Cowboys' receiver for an 8 yard loss. On second down, the pass was incomplete; then #11 Warren and #65 Buck Bodrey tackled the runner for a further loss of yardage. Again, the Cowboys were forced to punt the ball.
Back on offense, #10 Mock made an incomplete pass to #6 Will Durham, and #11 Warren ran to the right side behind the blocking of #24 Aaron Haire, #31 Kohler Tabb, and #6 Will Durham for a 10 yard gain and a first down. With a reverse play, #9 Register ran for 12 yards, fumbled the ball, and the Cowboys gained possession.
On the defense, a slew of Jr. Pirates were in on the tackle for a 5 yard Cowboy gain. The Jr. Pirates caused a fumble with #9 Register recovering the ball.
Next on offense, the ball was handed off to #8 Leslie Roseborough, running back, for a 1 yard loss; then #30 Stovall ran to the right side for a first down. A snap to #9 Register resulted in a fumble and was also recovered by Register for a loss of 15 yards. The ball was handed off to #9 Register, who ran behind #6 Durham, #31 Tabb, and #65 Bodrey for a 15 yard run ending in a first down. Next #11 Warren was tackled in the back field with a loss of 4 yards for a second and 14. With 4 seconds left on the clock until half-time, #9 Register ran to the right and was tackled.
The second half of the game began with the Jr. Pirates on defense. The first play resulted in a 10 yard gain for the Cowboys; #65 Bodrey, #99 Spence, and #50 Jenkins tackled the runner for a loss of yardage, and #36 Dalton Spence, nose guard, made a tackle that resulted in a third and 11 for the Cowboys. On the next play, they fumbled and recovered the ball with #36 Spence rushing the quarterback. On fourth down, the Cowboys punted the ball, turning it over to the Jr. Pirates' offensive team, but
#1 Kyle Alexander, receiver, ran the ball for a loss after being tackled by the Cowboys defensive line. Second down, #30 Stovall moved the ball 15 yards for a third and 5, and #9 Register took a direct snap and ran the ball to the right side behind the blocking of #75 Johnson, #52 Douglas, and #11 Warren for a first down. Register then ran to the left side for about 20 yards for another first down with #6 Durham, #31 Tabb, and #65 Bodrey leading the way. Next #8 Roseborough had an 18 yard run for a first down; then #11 Warren ran 15 yards for a first and goal from the 5 yard line, and #9 Register scored the second touchdown of the game on a reverse play. The Jr. Pirates' attempt at the extra point failed with a score of 12-0.
With the Jr. Pirates back on the defense, #52 Douglas led a pack of Jr. Pirates, #33 Miller Pickle, #34 Darrion Sheffield, #89 Hank Harden, and #60 Antonio Webb with a tackle of the Cowboy quarterback for a 3 yard gain. On second, the 1 yard gain was tripped up. This concluded the third Quarter. At third and 4, the Cowboys gained 3 yards for a fourth and 1. The Cowboys powered back with a first down, then a gain of 5 yards that was tripped up by #88 J. M. Bryan before #32 Holden Phillips and #36 Spence made a tackle that resulted in no gain for the Cowboys. On third down, #9 Register made a tackle behind the line for a 5 yard loss. On fourth down, the ball was stopped by the Jr. Pirates and turned over on downs.
With the first down of the Jr. Pirate offense, the ball was handed off to #3 Justin Grimsley for a 5 yard gain. On second down, the Jr. Pirates fumbled the ball and turned it over to the Cowboys.
The Cowboys made an 8 yard run on the first play. On second down, the runner was tackled after a big gain from behind. With the ball on the 12 yard line and 1.17 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys scored a touchdown. Their attempt at the extra point was successful. With 1.09 minutes left in the game, the scoreboard showed 12-8 with the Jr. Pirates still in the lead.
Next on the offense, the ball was passed to #9 Register resulting in a first down. The second play for the Jr. Pirates followed with an interception by the Cowboys.
With 15 seconds on the clock, the Cowboys had the ball on the Pirates' 38 yard line. The Cowboys ran up the middle with no yards gained. The tackle was made by #13 Julian Williams, #60 Antonio Webb, and #64 Brooks Watson. The play resulted in no gain of yards, and time ran out. The final score was 12-8 for the Jr. Pirates, who substituted early and often with #13 Julian Williams, #24 Aaron Haire, #33 Miller Pickle, #34 Darrian Sheffield, #60 Antonio Webb, #64 Brooks Watson, and #89 Hank Harden entering the game and playing their parts both offensively and defensively in the Jr. Pirates hard fought victory against the Cowboys.
