Lady Pirates win over Green Waves, 10-0

by Glenda Bailey

The Spring Creek Park ball fields were still standing in water due to the heavy rains that fell over the weekend from Fay; which in turn kept the Miller County Lady Pirates from hosting their first home game on Tuesday, August 26. Then on Thursday, August 28, our Lady Pirates traveled over to Terrell County to face the Green Waves in their fourth game of fast pitch softball and walked away with another 13-0 win.

Brooke Widner went the distance for the Lady Pirates on the mound. Widner had four strikeouts, and her teammates fielded the ball with ease. Team players scoring runs were Widner (2), Olivia Andrews (1), Sabrina Granade (2), Brittany Miller (2), Isabella Lawson (1), Jalessia Williams (2), Laci Phillips (2), and Jamie Cowart (1).

The Lady Pirates consist of seniors, Brooke Widner, Laci Phillips, BethAnne Phillips, Amber Kelley, Brittany Miller, Ja'lessia Williams, and Syltoya Bush; juniors, Isabella Lawson, Macey Richardson, and Olivia Andrews; sophomores, Jenna Phillips and Jamie Cowart; and freshmen, Sabrina Granade and Jackie Moore. Our girls' record stands 3-0.

As the Liberal goes to the stands on Tuesday, our Lady Pirates will be hosting the Seminole County Lady Indians September 2 at Spring Creek Park with game time beginning at 4:30 p.m. We all know that it will be a great game, so let's get behind our Lady Pirates as they face the Lady Indians.
