"The Rocker" reviewed by a Southern Girl
"The Rocker", a Peter Cattaneo film, follows the chaotic, rock star life of Robert "Fish" Fishman (played by "The Office's" Rainn Wilson). Fish, a drummer for the '80's rock band Vesuvius, was living every rock star's dream until his band mates replaced him to improve their image. Twenty years later, Fish thought he would never get the chance to "rock hard" again, until his nephew Matt ( portrayed by Superbad's Josh Gad) invited him to join the teen band, A.D.D.
Will "Fish" finally reach a new high in his life and become a celebrity rocker, or will he be forever doomed to sit behind a desk? Will his teenage band mates abandon the very glue that holds A.D.D together? See for yourself in this one-of-a kind comedy starring Rainn Wilson, who played Fish with amazing credibility in his first title role. The supporting cast is incredible , including ( House Bunny's) Emma Stone as "Amelia"; the real life rocker Teddy Geiger as "Curtis Wood", the lead vocalist for A.D.D., and Christina Applegate as "Kim."
"The Rocker" is packed with impeccably delivered one-liners, plus many wonderful musical performances by Teddy Geiger and the offbeat, but hysterical Will Arnett. Once you look past all the hilarity of this movie, you will see many touching messages such as: "Always follow your dreams", "Never give up hope", and most importantly, " What goes around comes around!"
Emma Stone, Josh Gad, and Teddy Geiger deliver truly beautiful performances as three awkward teens just trying to find a place in the world. Also, I think we will all agree that Rainn Wilson's "nakedly" fabulous performance will earn him many more title roles in the years to come. Christina Applegate also wonderfully portrayed Kim, Curtis's genial but protective mom.
"The Rocker" takes audiences on a journey, everywhere from ruining high school prom to stealing the stage at the famous Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleve- land .The song "Promised Land", performed by the fictional band, Vesuvius, is sure to get the crowd going, and it is has been released as free downloadable content as a promotional tactic for the movie.
"The Rocker", a 20th Century Fox film, released August 20th, 2008, has audiences and critics everywhere roaring with laughter, and I know you will do the same. "The Rocker" is rated PG-13 for drug and sexual references. For more details, go to www.iOnlyDrumNaked. com
