Up The Creek Without A Paddle
The choice is clear, to me
Democrats put on quite a show at their convention last week. I watched as much as I could of it. There were very few surprises. Real politicians all kiss and make up at their conventions. You could hardly see the scars as those who had gutted each other just a short few weeks ago were bosom buddies of the winner.

Big Things Ahead For Animals?
Since the Olympics and presidential politics have sucked the oxygen out of the news cycle recently, some really interesting stories have gone largely overlooked. Some of the best ones aren't even about politicians or athletes. For a change, animals are back in the news. And while the news may not be all good, it's at least interesting.

Surely you haven't Forgotten
'You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news on September 11, 2001. Neither will I. I was on the 110th floor in a smoke-filled room with a man who called his wife to say "Good-Bye." I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, "Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK..I am ready to go.

Innocence is priceless
One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque. It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it. The six-year-old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the little boy, and said quietly, "Good morning, Alex.

The most important question candidates are never asked
The Centers for Disease Control is not the first place one looks to for ideas on conflict resolution but, with one issue that has divided America, it should be. A recent CDC study revealed that between 1990 and 2004 abortion rates plummeted by 50 percent in the US. The researchers suggest one common-sense policy approach is most responsible: access to contraception.

As You See It
Terry Toole isn't the one tearing this community apart. The people who tore it apart have titles like county commissioner, city councilman, mayor, city manager and BOE members. Need a good church? Try South MT. Zion. That is a real Church Of God. We all need God even if we don't know it. All of us should realize that.

The duck and the devil
There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

"The Rocker" reviewed by a Southern Girl
"The Rocker", a Peter Cattaneo film, follows the chaotic, rock star life of Robert "Fish" Fishman (played by "The Office's" Rainn Wilson). Fish, a drummer for the '80's rock band Vesuvius, was living every rock star's dream until his band mates replaced him to improve their image.
