Mrs. Mittie Johnson Tiner, age 87 of Cedar Springs died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.

Mrs. Tiner was born in Miller County on August 5, 1921 to the late Walter Johnson and Polly Mock Johnson. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and was a retired school bus driver and administrative clerk at Early Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 19 in the chapel of Manry-Jordan Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Stafford officiating. Interment followed in Pine Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Tiner, Thad Tiner, Jerry Tiner II, Jimmy Johnson, Tim Jones, and Jim Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Evans, Martin Evans, Jack Messer, Tom Riley, and Don Vickers.

Survivors include four sons, Wayne Tiner (Jan) Cowart, AL, Kenneth Tiner (Linda) Blakely, Jerry Tiner (Sheila) Blakely, Steve Tiner (Pam) Shreveport, LA; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tiner was preceded in death by her husband, James Keaton Tiner and a son, Walter Tiner.

Manry-Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
