MCHS NEWS

by Morgan Jackson

Hey, everybody! Last weekend FFA officers went to Mexico Beach for officer training. We discussed fund-raisers, planned meetings throughout the year, and went over officer duties and parts. Saturday after we went over everything we went to Panama City shopping. The officers would like to thank Mrs. Charla Jackson for going as a chaperone. Tuesday, August 19, was our first FFA meeting. There were 74 guests present. Sergeant Russ Covington, a Georgia state patrol from Thomasville, gave a presentation on driving safety. Everyone enjoyed pizza, and the meeting went well. Prize winners were Rob- ert Baker, Reba Butler, Colt Calhoun, and Dalton Snipes. The tractor driving contest is August 27 after school. Anyone interested may participate. If you are participating, you can practice during ag classes. Money prizes will be given to the top three winners. The middle school is selling smoked pork chops plates. They are six dollars per plate. The pick-up date is Friday, September 5, in the lunch room from 3:00 to 7:00. Floral design workshop is September 8 at 4:45 at West Bainbridge Middle School. We can take two ninth graders and two 10-12th graders. See Mr. Bill if you are interested.

Our next FFA meeting will be September 18 at the bowling alley. You must be a member to attend. The cost is five dollars, and you need to sign up in the ag office to go. October 3 will be the last day to pay FFA dues, so please pay as soon as possible. They are $10.00 or $16.00 for an FFA shirt and dues. Expo is October 15. National convention is $350 and is October 21-25. Friday was the last day to sign up, and we have five members going. Don't forget that the FFA is selling T-shirts and beef jerky. Have a great week.
